April Fools Day Show:
April 1st!
(No, really.)
MEDIA RELEASE
LAUGH IT UP WITH APRIL FOOLS COMEDY SHOW!
This April Fools Day, put the Whoopee Cushions down and head to the theatre!
So say the funny folks over at Brissie’s newest improv comedy company, Gumball Theatre.
“Don’t get me wrong, we love a good prank as much as the next bloke,” says Gumball’s Jenny Wynter.
“It’s just that when it comes to April Fools Day, for us it’s about looking for healthy alternatives to practical joking. You know, like prancing onstage in front of a crowd, trying to win the affections of strangers. We’re very well balanced like that.”
Gumball Theatre, which launched in late 2010, is a highly interactive comedy show, whereby audience members write down suggestions for scenes, which the performers then draw out of the onstage gumball machine.
“Each show is essentially created by the audience, meaning that it’s unpredictable, interactive and usually very, very silly,” says Wynter.
“We’ve had people suggest everything from ‘octapus balls’ to ‘helicopter pilots in love’ to ‘get another suggestion.’”
“It’s always a buzz to get up onstage and make people laugh. April Fools Day just means that we have a legitimate excuse to spend money on some really indulgent props.”
“Maybe even a whoopee cushion.”
